The Achievements and Tasks of the Global Citizenship Education University Course Development Project Année de publication: 2020 Auteur: Eegyeong Kim | Soobin Min | Semi Lee | Haeryun Kim Auteur institutionnel: Korean Society of Education for International Understanding (KOSEIU) This study seeks to analyze the achievements and tasks of the 「GCED University Course Development Project」 promoted by APCEIU. Using such research methods as literature review, workshops, and expert consultation, we analyzed the four-year project surrounding course providers, course contents, and student learning and satisfaction. The findings show that the project has heightened universities’ interest in GCED through 33 courses involving 1,572 students from 21 universities. It was also confirmed that a variety of supports allowed students to have meaningful learning experiences. However, large class sizes, disparity among universities, and the absence of performance measuring tools seemed to limit the success of the project. As a strategy for overcoming these limitations, we suggested the tasks in terms of both quantitative and qualitative aspects. We Make Europe: Active Citizenship and Lifelong Learner Année de publication: 2013 Auteur institutionnel: European Civil Society Platform on Lifelong Learning (EUCIS-LLL) This material captures some of the sparks of civic engagement and aimed to contribute to the debates that took place in the context of the European Year of Citizens 2013. The information crisis is the result of the plethora of available information and the difficulty in differentiating true from false -or even fake- information, and identifying what content is in a grey and evolving scientific zone.In this context, education can play an important role in minimizing these risks and promoting values of solidarity and human rights by ensuring that young people, as well as their educators and parents, acquire core competencies of digital citizenship that build resilience to disinformation and misinformation and the exploitation of these by hate-mongers. Education can also help young people engage in the online environment in a safe, sensitive, critical, ethical and accountable way as well as encourage them to play a role in pioneering educational initiatives that contribute to promoting digital citizenship. Better education leads to greater prosperity, improved agriculture, better health outcomes, less violence, more gender equality, higher social capital and an improved natural environment. Education is key to helping people around the world understand why sustainable development is such a vital concept for our common future. Education gives us the key tools – economic, social, technological, even ethical – to take on the SDGs and to achieve them. These facts are spelled out in exquisite and unusual detail throughout the report. Yet the report also emphasizes the remarkable gaps between where the world stands today on education and where it has promised to arrive as of 2030. [Summary] Education for People and Planet: Creating sustainable Futures for All, Global Education Monitoring Report, 2016; Summary Année de publication: 2016 Auteur institutionnel: UNESCO Education for People and Planet: Creating Sustainable Futures for All explores the complex relationship between education and the new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, covering six fundamental pillars – Planet, Prosperity, People, Peace, Place and Partnerships. This report shows that education will not deliver its full potential unless participation rates increase dramatically and sustainable development guides education system reform. It also warns of the destructive impact that climate change, conflict, unsustainable consumption and the increasing gap between rich and poor have on education. A huge transformation is needed if we are to create sustainable futures for all.
