The Role of Culture in the Construction of Democracy: A Reflection on Cultural Democracy From Haiti Année de publication: 2015 Auteur: Wooldy Edson Louidor Auteur institutionnel: Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) This research studies the relationship between culture and democracy, from the analysis of the case study of the Sanba cultural movement in the late seventies in Haiti, from the biographical analysis of its initiator, the musician Sanba Zao, and from the analysis of the content of its songs. From the deconstruction of the univocal, unilateral and unilinear criterion of modernity used by the main theories of social movements, it proposes a paradigmatic transition towards the perspective of ambivalence increasingly used in the social sciences. From there, he revisits the theories of democracy and, based on a theoretical matrix of ambivalent democracy, explains the recent history of Haiti since the 20th century and the multiple faces of the ambivalence of democracy in the Caribbean country in the last four years. decades. Based on the analysis of the information collected, the research traces a new definition of culture from Sanba Zao's call to return to the roots and to the revaluation of Haitian tradition and identity. Desde la deconstrucción del criterio unívoco, unilateral y unilineal de la modernidad utilizado por las principales teorías de los movimientos sociales, plantea una transición paradigmática hacia la perspectiva de la ambivalencia cada vez más usada en las ciencias sociales. Desde allí, revisita las teorías de la democracia y, a partir de una matriz teórica de la democracia ambivalente, explica la historia reciente de Haití desde el siglo XX y las múltiples caras de la ambivalencia de la democracia en el país caribeño en las últimas cuatro décadas. Con base en el análisis de las informaciones recogidas, la investigación rastrea una nueva definición de la cultura desde el llamado de Sanba Zao a volver a las raíces y a la revalorización de la tradición e identidad haitianas.

Desafíos de la educación secundaria en América Latina: ponencias del Foro regional de políticas educativas 2018 Année de publication: 2019 Auteur: Nestor López Auteur institutionnel: UNESCO IIEP Oficina para América Latina y el Caribe En el marco de los esfuerzos realizados por la UNESCO para apoyar a los países de la región en el cumplimiento del Objetivo de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) 4, el 20 y 21 de septiembre de 2018 se celebró en Buenos Aires, Argentina, la segunda edición del Foro Regional de Políticas Educativas, un evento de la Oficina para América Latina del Instituto Internacional de Planeamiento de la Educación de la UNESCO. Este evento contó con la participación de representantes de los gobiernos de los 19 países de la región, expertos en políticas de educación secundaria, y representantes de organismos internacionales. El tema de esta edición del Foro Regional --Desafíos de la educación secundaria en América Latina ante la Agenda Educación 2030-- resultó particularmente de actualidad para los países de la región, dado que, en las últimas dos décadas, la mayor parte de ellos incorporó la secundaria como parte del ciclo de educación obligatoria. Sin embargo, hasta ahora no se ha logrado garantizar una educación secundaria “inclusiva, equitativa y de calidad” para todas las personas, como declara el ODS 4.

Through a digital platform, school contents and monitoring, evaluation and planning tools, children learn by playing, carrying out missions, creating strategies and being protagonists of their learning.It has an extensive potential to reach an ambitious scope of 2.000 teachers and 50.000 students. During 2018 a pilot test was carried out with 6 precursory schools. In the platform, teachers are provided with tools to develop and undertake meaningful and innovative educational projects with their students. Students are offered school contents that challenge and empower them as key players. They are encouraged to learn through play, to carry out missions, to devise strategies, and to lead projects which reinforce learning processes and encourage their creativity and commitment.
