Leadership and Active Citizenship Program: A Creative Learning Journey for Undergraduate Students Год публикации: 2018 Организация-автор: Berziet University Based on Birzeit University’s conviction and belief in its vision of its role as a pioneering institution with all its components that contribute to knowledge production in its national and global dimensions, and its commitment to its mission through “providing an enlightened and independent environment that allows freedom of thought and expression, is keen on democratic practices and dialogue, and stimulates excellence, creativity, innovation and leadership in education and learning.” To provide the community with competencies and knowledge that would lead change and contribute to its advancement, the Leadership and Active Citizenship Program “Masari” was launched at the beginning of the academic year 2017/2018, to enhance the university’s role in developing a renewed vision for education, and to be an incentive for students to start charting their life path and engaging with their surroundings. From the first day they cross the university's threshold, a co-curricular curriculum is implemented in parallel with the academic programs and curricular and extracurricular activities, and is a major and integral part of their educational career and university experience.The Massari program draws its general intellectual framework from the experience and expertise of Birzeit University in developing the conceptual and programmatic framework for life skills and citizenship education for the Middle East and North Africa, within the framework of a joint regional initiative launched by UNICEF in 2015 in cooperation with countries in the region and international institutions.

문화정책의 (재)구성: 발전을 위한 창의성 증진; 문화다양성 협약 글로벌 리포트, 2018 Год публикации: 2018 Организация-автор: UNESCO '글로벌 리포트(Global Report)' 시리즈는 유네스코 「문화적 표현의 다양성 보호과 증진에 관한 협약(2005)」의 이행을 모니터링하기 위해 기획되었다. 본 시리즈는 이러한 이행 과정이 UN의 2030 지속가능발전목표 및 세부목표를 달성하는 데 어떻게 기여하는지 증거를 통해 보여주고 있다.2018년 글로벌 리포트는 2015년에 첫 번째 리포트가 출간된 이후 협약을 이행하면서 이루어진 진전 사항을 분석하고 있다.본 보고서는 협약 당사국들이 제출한 국가보고서에 대한 분석과 그와 관련된 새로운 연구 결과를 바탕으로 협약이 10개의 모니터링 분야에서 세계 및 국가 수준의 정책 변화에 어떻게 영향을 주었는지 검토하고 있다. 또한 본 보고서는 디지털 환경의 급속한 변화에 맞는 문화정책을 다루면서 인권과 기본적 자유를 기반으로 하는 향후 일련의 정책 권고안을 제시하고 있다.이 두 편의 글로벌 리포트는 문화정책을 수립하고 발전을 위한 창의성을 증진시킬 수 있는 새롭고 가치 있는 증거를 제시하기 시작하고 있다. 
Education: Still Searching for Utopia? (The UNESCO Courier no. 1, January-March 2018) Год публикации: 2018 Организация-автор: UNESCO At a time of heightened global tension, when human rights, freedom of speech, peace and the future of the planet itself may seem challenged as never before, the transformational power of education is of critical importance.In Learning: The Treasure Within, the landmark Report to UNESCO by the International Commission on Education for the Twenty-first Century in 1996, Jacques Delors, then Chairman of the Commission (1992 to 1996), spoke of education as “the necessary Utopia” and “an indispensable asset in its attempt to attain the ideals of peace, freedom and social justice.”Education was held up as neither miracle nor magic, but rather the best means to foster a climate where humanity would be improved −. and where the rich potential for learning, inherent in every individual, would be tapped. Our humanity is confronted with a very strange paradox: the world’s population has never been better educated, and yet, according to the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, 263 million children and young people are out of school, 617 million children and adolescents worldwide do not meet the minimum threshold for literacy and mathematics, at least 750 million adults are illiterate, and girls remain more likely than boys to never set foot in a classroom. Yet education is still called upon to address inequalities, poverty, terrorism and conflict. It is seen as one of the keys to global citizenship and sustainable development, two of UNESCO’s fields of action. The Organization is also mandated to lead the Education 2030 global agenda with a special focus on ensuring that no one is left behind. Under the title, “Education: Still searching for Utopia?”, the UNESCO Courier evaluates the state of global education and explores how it responds to some of the main challenges we face.

Podemos en realidad estar lejos de los lugares donde el genocidio contra el pueblo judío fue perpetrado, pero también América Latina está todavía haciéndose cargo de su propio pasado de violencia y crímenes contra la humanidad. Con esta publicación, los educadores latinoamericanos van a tener al alcance de la mano un recuento actualizado de los temas más destacados que se discuten sobre pedagogía y construcción de políticas. También podrán explorar cómo, todavía hoy en Europa, la educación sobre el Holocausto da forma a una cultura de la memoria. Por otra parte, pueden ver cómo en otros lugares la memoria del Holocausto puede ser un punto de partida para relacionarse con otros pasados difíciles. La UNESCO está convencida de que la prevención del genocidio comienza en la escuela. En un mundo en donde la violencia masiva es posible, esta publicación mostrará lo importante de enseñar a los jóvenes sobre el Holocausto y sobre otros genocidios en la historia. Es una condición para prevenir que crímenes similares sucedan en el futuro.

The significant contribution of the aforementioned experiences lies in the recognition and appreciation of the ethnic and cultural diversity of its students and communities, as a starting point for the development of new learning and affirmation of their identity. In turn, life in educational centers promotes intercultural relations of respect and fraternity in a local and subregional sociogeographic context, characterized by multiculturalism.

Ministry of Education The publication that we deliver contains some of the main papers and reflections emanating from the VII Conference on Educational Cooperation with Ibero-America on Special Education and Educational Inclusion, organized by the Ministry of Education of Spain and the Regional Office of Education for Latin America and the Caribbean ( OREALC / UNESCO Santiago). This publication has the inclusion in secondary education as a central theme, since it was the axis of the VII Conference. It is a particularly critical issue in our region since it establishes the minimum level necessary to escape poverty, to access decent employment and to exercise citizenship. However, access to secondary education is still very low in some countries and is especially low in the case of the most vulnerable populations, being those who most require access to this level of studies to overcome their situation of inequality. Esta publicación tiene a la inclusión en la educación secundaria como tema central, pues constituyó el eje de las VII Jornadas. Es un tema especialmente crítico en nuestra región ya que establece el nivel mínimo necesario para salir de la pobreza, para acceder a un empleo digno y para ejercer la ciudadanía. Sin embargo, el acceso a la educación secundaria todavía es muy bajo en algunos países y es especialmente bajo en el caso de las poblaciones en situación de mayor vulnerabilidad, siendo quienes más requieren acceder a este nivel de estudios para superar su situación de desigualdad.
