Pursuant to 192 EX/Decision 20 (III), the Director-General hereby submits the consolidated report on the implementation by Member States of the Recommendation.Purpose: This document reports on the results of the Fifth Consultation on the Implementation of the Recommendation concerning Education for International Understanding, Cooperation and Peace and Education relating to Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (covering the period 2009-2012). The analysis was prepared on the basis of 55 national reports from Member States received by the Secretariat.

Better education leads to greater prosperity, improved agriculture, better health outcomes, less violence, more gender equality, higher social capital and an improved natural environment. Education is key to helping people around the world understand why sustainable development is such a vital concept for our common future. Education gives us the key tools – economic, social, technological, even ethical – to take on the SDGs and to achieve them. These facts are spelled out in exquisite and unusual detail throughout the report. Yet the report also emphasizes the remarkable gaps between where the world stands today on education and where it has promised to arrive as of 2030.

女童和妇女教育 国际研讨会总结报告. 中华人民共和国,北京. 2016年6月4—7日 出版年份: 2016 机构作者: National Commission of the People's Republic of China for UNESCO | UNESCO Beijing The International Seminar on Girls’ and Women’s Education, held 4-6 June 2016 in Beijing, explored benefits of education on girls and women along with barriers to the achievement of gender equality in education. It provided a platform for dialogue on the role of education for girls and women, particularly in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and specifically in reaching SDG 4 and supporting the achievement of other SDGs. The event also marked the first award ceremony of the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education, which honoured two laureates for their outstanding innovation and contributions to advancing girls’ and women’s education. This publication presents a synthesis of information that was shared during the seminar’s sessions, and the findings and recommendations originating from the exchanges.
